Earth Day is right around the corner! It is on Wednesday, April 22nd! With all the rain it has been difficult to go outside so I decided it would be super fun to bake earth day cookies. What makes this the best cookie recipe to bake in my opinion is that you only need three ingredients: store bought sugar cookie dough, food coloring, and flour. It took about 25 minutes for the entire baking activity. Hopefully the rain will clear on Earth day and we can plant some seeds and read some books about earth day outside.

If you would like to make these super tasty and hassle free cookies see the recipe below.

Ingredients/Supplies:

  • Pillsbury Cookie Dough, Sugar Cookie (16.5 oz) { You can also make them using you’re own recipe }

  • Blue and Green Food Coloring ( I used the Wilton ones)

  • Flour

  • Cookie Sheets

Optional Supplies

  • Disposable Gloves (If you do not want food coloring stains on hand)

  • Kitchen Aide Mixer (for mixing of food coloring and cookie dough)

Steps:

Step one: Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit (or 325 degrees fahrenheit for nonstick cookie sheet). Gather all Ingredients and supplies.

Step two: Split package of cookie dough into two equal parts.

Step three: Add a couple drops of blue food coloring to one half of the cookie dough and add a couple of green food coloring to the other half. Mix each half with its food coloring by using either hands or mixer. I used my kitchen aide mixer to mix each half. I added pinches of flour till I liked the consistency. Once they were mixed I also used my hands to knead the dough. I placed each sugar cookie in individual bowls next to each other.

Step four: Now that you have a blue and green cookie dough. Grab a little bit of each cookie dough color and mix together to make 1/2 inch balls. I place them about 2 inches apart on a non-stick cookie dough sheets.

Step four: Bake cookies for 11 to 14 minutes or until edges are crispy. Cool for 2-5 minutes and remove from cookie sheet.

Step five: Enjoy the super tasty Earth day cookies.
